Hurricane Irene weekend

After celebrating Ben's birthday on Thursday, I spent twenty minutes sweeping up cupcake crumbs and three hours avoiding packing for our impromptu trip to Raleigh.  At that point, the hurricane was still a Category 3 and heading straight for eastern North Carolina, so we decided to get the heck out of Dodge.  On Friday morning, we said a final goodbye to John and Deirdre and Joshua and hit the road heading west.

We arrived safe and sound on Friday afternoon and got settled in at the Levine's (where we spent last Thanksgiving).  David is Zach's cousin and he and his wife Maggie have three kids: Ally, Alexandra, and Will.  We are so grateful to have family nearby because a lot of our friends were stuck in hotels with kids and dogs and fish.

On Saturday, it started to rain in Raleigh so Dan and I played in the carport and the driveway while it was just sprinkling.  In the afternoon, we headed to Marbles (a children's museum) while Ben napped.  We had a great time and can't wait to go back soon.  Which will be this weekend because we're headed back to Raleigh for Alexandra's bat mitzvah!
