Zach had to stay late at work unexpectedly, so it was up to me to take the boys trick-or-treating by myself! At least it had stopped raining so we weren't getting soaked while walking/riding around the neighborhood. Dan and Ben hopped into their dinosaur costumes for the third time and had a blast ringing doorbells (multiple times instead of just once--sorry, neighbors!), pulling the wagon through puddles, and eating candy the whole way instead of saving it for home.
My brilliant idea of the evening was for Ben to ride in the wagon so I wouldn't have to chase both of them down the street. But the only way I could get him to sit in there was by bribing him with candy, so I poured some Reese's Pieces and M&Ms in the wagon and let him eat them, one-by-one. He was also occupied with a Tootsie Pop with the wrapper still on, so that took him a little while to eat his way through both the wrapper and the sucker. Hey, whatever it takes!
After we did our street and the next cul-de-sac over, Dan and Ben were ready for baths and supper. After Ben went to sleep, Dan had fun answering the door to all the older kids in their costumes. And he didn't even noticed that I poured his candy into the big bowl of candy to hand out, so now we don't have any pieces lying around the house, tempting us (okay, me).
