Happy 3rd birthday, Dan!

Our big boy turned 3 yesterday!  He opened a couple of presents in the morning because he just couldn't stand looking at the pile anymore, but he did a great job being patient and waiting until Daddy got home from work to open the rest.  We went to open gym in the morning, then both boys took (almost) 3-hour naps, which was Dan's present to me!  After naps, we went to Just Baked and picked up giant cupcakes for later.

When Zach got home, we had a delicious dinner of frozen pizza and cupcakes, food I knew both boys would gobble up.  We really didn't think through the decision of giving Dan a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting and chocolate chips at 6:30 in the evening, so we (mainly me) paid the price all night long when he was up every hour and a half.  Oh, well, it was a special occasion!

Dan loved all of his presents, especially his Cranky the Crane for the train table.  He took an inaugural spin on his new tricycle, but he doesn't quite have the pedaling motion down yet.  No worries--he just pushed the trike through the puddles.  Thank you to everyone for sending presents and cards (I will work my hardest to get thank you notes in the mail before we leave next Friday).  Dan had a great day and I can't wait to see what the next year brings for my sweet, opinionated, boisterous, loving, truck-obsessed buddy!
