Old friends, new playground

Goodbyes are never really goodbyes for those of us married to Marines, as I keep reminding myself during our last week in North Carolina.  Instead of saying goodbye, we just say, "Until we meet again," because the Marine Corps really is a small world and we will see each other again.  Just last week, we met up with some old friends that we hadn't seen since we left Hawaii 2 1/2 years ago.  Since then, the Matyskiela's have moved to and from Korea, had another little boy, and are now moving back to Hawaii where Rich will take command of a squadron.  For now, they're here, staying with another set of old friends from Hawaii that just moved back from Germany.  Confused yet?  Me, too!

Dan and Ben had a great time playing with Richie and Michael.  We went to a new playground, so they boys loved exploring that.  Somehow, Kim and I managed to keep them contained to the playground for a good hour while we chatted.  Our luck ran out when all four boys decided to go in different directions around the community center.  We're having them over for a barbecue this afternoon, so hopefully we'll be able to catch up more then!
