On Sunday, we headed to Busch Gardens for a few hours of fun in the sun. I haven't been to an amusement park in so long that I think I blocked out all the memories of long lines, tons of people, and expensive everything. We didn't stay too long because Dan was hot and tired, but we did see a cool animal show and we walked around the new Sesame Place for a little while. Dan was very interested in the rides until we got up close to actually ride them--then he wanted no part of them at all. So the only ride he rode was the tram to and from the parking lot. But he seemed to enjoy that one!
Sunday night, we barbecued at Danielle's house and her parents came over to see the little man. He was in rare form--running around like crazy, doing somersaults on his own, generally being a ham. He was definitely the life of the party!
The beach was calling us, so that's where we were off to on Monday morning. We knew parking would be crazy on Memorial Day, so we left early and ended up getting to the beach at about 9:30. Danielle's sister and her husband and some friends met us there. Dan loved every second of sand and surf! He played in the sand contentedly for long stretches of time, just shoveling and digging away. He really liked the water too and didn't even mind when his head would go under every now and then. We stayed until just after noon, then headed home for naps!
It was a great weekend with great friends in Tampa! I probably should have taken a lot more pictures, but we were having too much fun catching up and chasing after Dan. When Danielle and Brad visit us in July, we'll get more of it on film!
