Strawberry Pickin'

On Saturday, we drove out to Mike's Farm pick strawberries. It was a hot, hot, hot and sticky day, which I think is a harbinger of things to come here in North Carolina. (Maybe we should have thought through an August due date a little better?) Before we headed to the strawberry patch, we fed a few goats and Dan scratched around in the dirt. He loves to grab handfuls of dirt to throw in the air. He hasn't quite figured out that if he throws the dirt into the wind, it comes back to hit him in the face. He'll put two and two together eventually.

When we headed to the strawberry patch, Dan was excited to see that we got a ride out in a golf cart. We started in on our assigned row and found lots of delicious red strawberries just waiting to be picked. Dan wasn't much help--he would find a good berry, sit down in the row, pick off as many leaves as his patience would allow, then pop the whole thing into his mouth. Zach and I just left him to it as we filled our little cartons to the brim. When we went to pay, we couldn't resist buying some delicious fudge as well. Love Mike's Farm!

(The strawberries were the best I've ever had--super sweet and juicy! Dan could not eat them fast enough!)

(This one reminds me of The Andy Griffith Show, for some reason):
