We had a great day of feasting, family, and friends yesterday. We ate our big meal around 1:30, then cleaned up and got ready for friends to come over for a Dessert Extravaganza. Layne is quite the baker, so we had apple tarts, pecan pie, peppernuts (a yummy Amish treat), pumpkin cheesecake (made by my neighbor Lindsey), chocolate cheesecake bites, and chocolate truffles with sea salt (made by me!). Everything was delicious and it was an all-around great day. The weather was perfect so Dan got a lot of outdoor time, making it much easier to cook and clean! Dan really enjoyed his first Thanksgiving of real food, which is a good thing because we'll be eating it for at least a few more days.

I assume you and Layne are planning on recreating that dessert spread for me at Christmas? Because my Thanksgiving dessert consisted of two Oreos eaten while on a 9-hour bus ride across Spain.
Runny, we will make whatever you want at Christmas! You've had it so rough, traveling the world and answering to no one. You deserve a break. (:

I will assume the chocolate truffles were fabulous and attempt them myself for my next holiday treat. I contributed pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting and Chex Mix to my family's feasting. I haven't tried the truffles yet.
LIsa--the truffles were delicious! Not too difficult, but a little labor intensive. I'm glad I did them early in the day so I wasn't stressed about hurrying through the process. If Jason is anything like Zach, he'll start referring to them as the Chocolate Salty Balls and that name will unfortunately stick. (:
