Israel Day 6: Back to Tel Aviv

Unfortunately, our time in the North was over and it was time to head back to Tel Aviv. On our way down the mountain from the resort, we kept seeing a lot of helicopters flying overhead, both 60s (like I used to fly) and 53s (like Zach still flies). We thought it was just an exercise until we got back to Tel Aviv and saw on the news that a Palestinian group in Lebanon had been sending rockets across the border, so that's why all the helos were flying.

Before we got back to Tel Aviv, we had to drop off Tom at his army base. He was the main reason that we decided to visit Israel in the first place and he was an awesome tour guide (along with the lovely Kaley, of course). Tom is almost done with his Army training, 17 months after starting it. The training is usually much shorter, but he is part of an elite unit, so it's taking longer than normal. At the end of this week, he will officially be a reconnaissance commando, part of an Israeli paratrooper brigade. We're very proud of him and pray that he stays safe as he finishes training.
