Daniel's good buddy, Auntie Layne, left yesterday afternoon. We will definitely miss her around here, that's for sure. When we started this whole experience in January, I wasn't quite sure how it was going to go. I knew she would be wonderful with the baby and would make my life a lot easier in that regard, but I just didn't know how the two of us would get along. I left for the Academy when Layne was only 8 years old, so this is the longest stretch that we've lived together in 14 years. She's obviously grown up a lot since then, but I don't think I ever really thought of her as an adult--just my baby sister, ten years younger than me. But now I know that she's become a thoughtful, caring, mature, intelligent young woman, so I think that was the best part of her being here for 4 months--just getting to reconnect with Layne as a friend and not just as a sibling. Daniel will probably look around for her today, and I'm sure she'll miss him too, but we'll see her again next week in Kansas, so it's not too sad.

Doesn't it look like something a fancy hotel would spend thousands of dollars trying to recreate? And we had it all to ourselves for free!

How fun! I'm glad your sister was such a huge help! You are so lucky not to have to take Daniel to daycare... now he has his mommy to take care of him!! Yay! You'll love it! Looks like you girls had a great day together!
