Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday was a pretty low-key, but fun, affair this year.  My parents were in town and Lauren and Jesse came out for church and lunch and hanging out.  Thanks to Aunt Earlyn, the kids had new outfits and looked extra cute, especially Hannah.  They all did great at church, but it was a good thing that Uncle Jesse was there to take Ben out when he got a little squirrelly toward the end.

After church, we came home and the boys opened their Easter baskets.  They each got a dark chocolate bunny, a Lego watch, a pig that poops chocolate pellets, and some chocolate pretzels.  Granny sent sugar cookies earlier in the week, so I'm pretty sure we covered all the major sugar groups.

The boys hunted eggs in the front yard while Hannah sat on her new cart and watched.  More chocolate for everyone!  I gave up sweets during Lent, but I made up for lost time on Easter Sunday.  And I paid for it with a stomach ache that night.  Totally worth it!

Hannah Turns 1!

Hannah's actual birthday was on Saturday, but we celebrated a day early just because we couldn't wait any longer!  It's hard to believe that she's been with us for one year because it's hard to remember what life was like without her.

Dan and Ben were very excited for her party because they couldn't wait to help her open presents and eat cake.  She's a lucky lady to have older brothers to show her the ropes!

Lauren and Jesse came out for dinner and my parents are in town, so it was just a low-key family celebration.  We opened presents first.  Hannah loved pushing her cart from Grandma and Grandpa and riding on her Scuttlebug from Granny.  She looked especially cute in her new dress from Granny.  (She wore her other birthday outfit from Aunt and Unc on Saturday.)  Unfortunately, Hannah's feet are teeny-tiny, so she probably won't fit into her new shoes from Granny until she goes to kindergarten.  Dan and Ben liked setting up her ball tower from Aunt Layne.  (And I can't wait for her to wear her new swim stuff to the pool. Thanks, Uncle Tom and Christy!)

Hannah really enjoyed her lemon cake with raspberry filling.  The rest of us had chocolate cake with raspberry and it was delicious.  She made a giant mess, which Dan found hilarious.  All in all, it was a great birthday party and Hannah is truly blessed to have so many people that love her.

Play Date!

Well, I'm a week behind on this, but better than being two weeks behind!  Last Tuesday, we went over to the O'Hara house for a play date.  Cael is in preschool with Dan and Ben.  He has two younger brothers, Coen and Reid.  Another buddy from school, Gavin, came with his little sister, Avery.

It was really hot that day (like 93 degrees), so the big kids played in the sprinklers while the moms and babies stayed inside.  Well, Ben stayed inside too.  He's no dummy--he wanted the toys and the play room all to himself.  Plus he HATES when I apply sunscreen so he chose to stayed dry and clothed.

This same gang is coming over to our house next week to swim, so hopefully our pool water will warm up a little by then.  I know the kids won't care, but I don't want to swim in freezing cold water....

Family Fun Day

Last Saturday, we headed down to Miramar (the base) for Family Fun Day.  It had a Superhero theme, but the only one the boys were interested in was Spiderman.  And they weren't that interested in him.  Poor Spidey.

Dan and Ben did love the bounce houses, the inflatable barrel thing, and the snow cones and cotton candy.  Hannah liked people-watching from her stroller.  We all had a pretty good time, but these kind of things are always more enjoyable with two parents.  I spent most of the time making sure I could see all three kids and yelling things like, "No, come back!" and "Wait for your brother!" and "You can't have another snow cone even though you dropped yours in the dirt.  Sorry."
