Start of Catch-Up

Whoa, I am behind.  I will catch up with the entire summer in several (like 20) picture-heavy posts.  My sisters say that they only want to see pictures anyway, so I won't be my usual witty self.  These first pictures are from our unplanned trip to Oklahoma (for my beloved grandma's funeral), the last day of school, and our last trip to the San Diego Zoo, plus some other random ones from my phone.  Enjoy!

Memorial Day Weekend in Buffalo

After spending the day at Seaworld, my brilliant plan was for us to take the redeye flight to JFK so that the kids would sleep on the plane.  Ha ha ha ha ha ha.  That clearly didn't happen, so we were all exhausted when we got to Buffalo on Friday morning.  We rallied enough to meet the Missouri Rashman's for lunch and then we hung out at Granny's that night for dinner and Legos.  

On Saturday, we had a great brunch at Dorothy and Gus's house and then a fantastic barbecue at Zach's cousin Sally's house that afternoon.  We LOVED seeing all the aunts and uncles and cousins and catching up with everyone.  We had so much fun with everyone that I didn't really take any pictures.  Ooooooops.....

After a really nice out-of-town-guests get-together on Saturday night, we headed out to the suburbs to have brunch on Sunday morning with Zach's Aunt Marcie and Uncle Marvin.  The kids love their house and backyard.  They played soccer and wrestled with Corinne and Davis and Miles while the grown-ups chatted.  Hopefully when we live in Kentucky, we'll get to see the cousins more.  

Leah's wedding was Sunday night and it was absolutely spectacular.  She looked gorgeous and everything was beautiful.  Zach and I couldn't party too hard because our flight home was pretty early  the next day, but we managed to have a lot of fun anyway.  

Seaworld

I know, I know, I'm way behind in posting.  After one planned trip for a wedding, one unplanned trip for a funeral, the end of school, and Zach's departure for Kentucky, I just haven't been on my blogging game.  My sincerest apologies!

Dan's class went to Seaworld on a field trip and the rest of our family tagged along!  His teacher, Ms. Narez, actually works at Seaworld in the summer, so she was able get the kids a lot of hands-on activities and special access.  Zach, Ben, Hannah, and I stuck to the main attractions and then met up with the class later on.  Seaworld was a place that we hadn't been to before so I'm glad that we had a chance to go before we leave the area.

After the field trip was over, Dan stayed with us instead of riding the bus back to school.  We went on a few rides and hung out at the playground.  Dan and I rode a ride called Atlantis--one of those roller coasters that splashes through water at the bottom.  While we were waiting for our turn, we watched probably ten cycles of people get off and no one was wet.  When it was our turn, Dan and I were in the front car and we were literally SOAKED to the bone.  My jeans were stuck to me, my shoes were squishy, and my camera and phone barely survived.  Dan had the time of his life but I was not happy.

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

Dan and Ben's school had a wonderful Cinco de Mayo fiesta on Tuesday night, complete with delicious potluck supper, songs, and performances by each grade.  Dan's partner in his dance was supposed to be Ella, but she was a no-show that evening.  His teacher, Ms. Narez, gave him the option of dancing with her as his partner or dancing by himself.  Our social butterfly chose to dance by himself.  The video (which Blogger keeps telling me has an error so I can't upload it) is pretty funny--Dan puts his arm around an imaginary partner and makes funny faces when he remembers that he's solo.

We will miss this school so much when we move!  Something tells me that Cinco de Mayo just won't be the same in central Kentucky.....

Once Hannah turned the big 2, it was time to cut her curly blond mullet.  We went to the same barbershop that Dan and Ben and Zach have been using since we moved here.  Carly was very excited to get her hands on Hannah!  We didn't cut too much off--just a few straggly long curls, but it really does make Hannah look more like a little girl than a baby.
